Logo development
by Nickolas on Dec.04, 2009, under Random bits
You surely noticed that I didn’t really had a logo, but only a simple text made clickable on the top left corner of the page. So I took a pen and a few sheet of paper and started drawing what I thought would make a nice logo for my website.
The task appears to be simpler then it really is!
I first started out with simply writing the name of the website (NickoLabs), trying to style out those letters. I already had my slogan so I could build on that. Here is what some looked like… Keep in mind that I draw like that only when brainstorming… The whole idea is to shoot stuff on paper, stuff that resemble nothing, but sometime you come up with great ideas (well, sometime not THAT great but still…)

First draft of Logos
(Geez, they’re ugly looking!)
Anyway, while drawing, I did some hexagon shape, trying to represent the “building code” phrase…
I finally came up with this, which I intend in redrawing a bit later, and make it more… more… I dunno! I’ll simply redraw it and see how it goes!

Second Draft, much less ugly!
So… tell me what you’re thinking about it. Got suggestions?
I intend in keeping the lettering a bit like that, and include the “slogan” in it. I’ll see if I have space for the slogan since I’ll have to write it in both language.
Anyway, that’s all for today. I’m also looking for a nice “syntax highlighter” for this blog, since I remind you it’s a development laboratory! I found “lighter”, a Mootools based script that I’m actually finding quite appealing (I LOVE Mootools!) and I might test it out later this week. Should you have suggestion, go ahead! Shoot!
